KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Nepal produced an additional 598 MW of electricity in the first half of the current fiscal year against its target to produce a total of 1,629 MW of electricity in 2021/22.
According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the country added the aforementioned amount of electricity, produced by 11 hydropower projects, to the national grid. Last year, only 131 MW of electricity was produced against the target of generating 1,300 MW.

Out of the produced energy over the period, 456 MW was produced by the subsidiary companies of NEA while private sector companies produced 142 MW. Solar power projects contributed 9 MW in the total energy generation in the period.
