Comprising 13 episodes, at the heart of the political drama is nurturing the idea of female leadership and showing the inner workings of the central government.
Speaking about the series, director Sherpa said, "The story is based in a post-constitution Nepal. Through realistic story lines, characters and dialogues, we aim to capture the mindset of the audiences, and make them believe in the possibility of a collaborative political culture in the Nepali public imagination."
Malla believes that 'Singha Durbar' will completely wipe away the perception people have of Nepali TV shows today. "This is a content driven political drama with a female character at the helm. It brings across various issues and challenges that leaders and the public have to go through on a daily basis."
As stated in the press release, the television series aspires to promote positive role models in governance, and a culture of collaboration between the government and the general public.
Producer Yubakar Raj Rajkarnikar says that the series will help audiences in understanding their responsibility toward the government.
Produced by Search for Common Ground Nepal with Mila Productions as its production partner, 'Singha Durbar' is financially supported by USAID. Work on the series commenced from Wednesday, June 10, and is scheduled to release on September.
