Nepal fails to win medal

KATHMANDU, April 28: Nepal has failed to win a medal in the fourth AVC Central Zone Men’s Volleyball Tournament after facing a 3-0 straight set defeat at the hands of Kyrgyzstan in the third place match on Friday.

KATHMANDU, April 28: Nepal has failed to win a medal in the fourth AVC Central Zone Men’s Volleyball Tournament after facing a 3-0 straight set defeat at the hands of Kyrgyzstan in the third place match on Friday.

Nepal, who had secured the bronze medal in the third edition of the tournament, lost to Kyrgyzstan 25-20, 25-22, 25-20 in the match played at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur. Nepal had to face defeat in this match as it repeated the same mistake it had committed in the semifinals against Turkmenistan.


Nepal could not achieve the goal of winning a medal as it did not improve the receive and block, on Friday. Nepal coach Jagadish Bhatta said that the confidence of his players could not be boosted after facing a defeat in the first match against the host Bangladesh. “In terms of the preparations we did, we were the contender for the trophy. But, we could 

not play as per our capabilities.’’
