KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has defeated Nepal with seven runs at the final match of the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 held at Windhoek in Namibia on Thursday, becoming the champion of the tournament.

Electing to bat first after losing the toss, UAE had scored 277 runs for Nepal in the allotted 50 overs, losing four wickets. UAE’s Ashfaq Ahmed hit highest 114 runs studded with three sixes and 10 fours off 123 balls, Rohan Mustafa (c) made 51 runs including seven fours off 74 runs while Rameez Shahzad contributed 41 runs off 46 balls. Chasing the 278-run target set for Nepal by UAE, Nepal was able to collect prestigious 270 runs in 50 overs, with loss of 8 wickets.
Captain Paras Khadka scored 112 runs not out including three fours and eight sixes off 103 balls. Likewise, Dipendra Singh Airee hit 35 runs with two sixes off 67 balls. Nepal is seeded in Group B with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Scotland and Hong Kong in ICC World Cup Qualifiers set to be held in Zimbabwe ending as runners-up of the tournament.
