A meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 18, 2016 decided to revive the government-run NDL after eight years since its closure. The pharmaceutical company was closed after the World Health Organization, seven years back, made the Good Manufacturing Practice mandatory.

The government had decided to provide Rs 146.5 million loan for re-operating the NLD as per GMP.

NLD general manager Robus Kusum Subedi said the company has started preparations for starting the production from mid-September itself. He added that works are being carried out to produce tablets of non-penincilin group medicine within three months of operation. RSS
