KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Nepal's dream of lifting the Third SAFF U-16 Championship trophy got a big blow as it lost the semifinal match 1-0 to defending champion India at the Sylhet District Stadium in Bangladesh on Sunday.

The Indian team, which had defeated Nepal 1-0 in the final of the last edition in Kathmandu, again shattered Nepal's dream.Nepal, the runner-up of the last edition, conceded the only goal in the first half despite having the match under control and boasting more possession.

Rahim Ali scored the winning goal for India in the 22nd minute beating two Nepali defenders.

After conceding the goal the frustrated Nepali team tried hard to come back in the game but failed to score even a single goal.

Nepal missed a number of chances throughout the game despite having more than 60 percentage of ball possession.

Nepal failed to take lead in the 16th minute as Kshitiz Raj GT's shot hit the cross bar and the ball went out. Kshitiz Raj's another powerful shot in the 43rd minute went above the bar.

Now India will play the final against host Bangladesh, which beat Afghanistan 1-0 in the first semifinal on the same day.

The final will be played on Tuesday.
