KATHMANDU, Oct 3: The Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) scheduled for Saturday afternoon has been put off for Sunday. The meeting is expected to dwell on the recent political appointments and other issues related to the party’s organizational unity.

An aide to NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the meeting will take place on Sunday. But the time has not been fixed yet.

Sources said the meeting was put off as there is the “need for further homework” to set the agenda of the meeting.

The meeting comes at a time when the NCP Chairmen duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Sharma Oli are at odds over the Cabinet reshuffle despite a series of meetings over the last one week.

Chairman Dahal is reportedly unhappy with the decision of Prime Minister Oli to recommend former finance minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada as Nepal’s ambassador to the US and former chief secretary Lok Darshan Regmi as Nepal’s envoy to the UK. Dahal has alleged that the prime minister took the decisions on key political appointments unilaterally.
