NCP bars elected representatives from holding executive posts

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to not appoint elected representatives to any executive posts of the party.

A meeting of the party secretariat held in Baluwatar took a decision to this effect. With the decision, speakers of Provincial Assemblies, House of Representatives, chairmen of National Assembly and district coordination committees, chiefs and deputy chiefs of municipalities and rural municipalities cannot hold dual positions.

Similarly, these elected representatives will not be given responsibilities of district party committees and those committees below it, said NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

The party secretariat is also preparing to publish a political document by August 16. According to the decision, the central office of the party will remain in Dhumbarahi while the offices of class-based organizations, departments and other necessary units will be set up at Perisdanda.

Similarly, a meeting of the Standing Committee has been scheduled for August 24 and 25.

The party has also extended the deadline of the taskforce to submit a report on the party unification. Its deadline is expiring on August 16.

The taskforce has also been assigned to submit a name-list of members to be appointed to the posts of Central Advisory Council, National Council, Forum for Elderly Communists and other departments among others.

Likewise, the party has also decided to send a team led by Narayan Kaji Shrestha to northern neighbor on a week-long official visit starting September 12 to 19 at the invitation of Communist Party of China.

A task-force comprising Deputy Parliamentary Party Leader Subas Nembang, Bhim Rawal, Haribol Gajurel, Janardan Sharma and Beduram Bhusal has also been formed to formulate party regulations, directory and code of conduct.
