KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Nepali Congress has recommended Dr Ram Sharan Mahat and Dr Minendra Rijal to represent the party in the eight-member Army Integration Special Committee (AISC).
The prime minister-headed committee is responsible for taking care of the Maoist combatants in 28 cantonments and taking decisions on their integration (into national security agencies) and rehabilitation now has complete shape.
The three ruling parties – Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and Madhesi people´s Rights Forum – and opposition party, Nepali Congress have two members each as per the understanding between the parties.
The committee’s first meeting took place Friday to draft working procedures and code of conducts for the members.
