HETAUDA, July 23: Bahadur Singh Lama of the Nepali Congress (NC) has submitted his claim for the chief ministership of Bagmati Province.
With the support of 64 provincial assembly members including 37 from the NC and 27 from the UML, Lama presented his claim to the chief ministership to the Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma on Tuesday.

According to Article 168 (2) of the Constitution, Province Chief Sharma called on Sunday for the formation of a majority government by 5 PM on Tuesday.
According to the province chief's office, Sharma is preparing to appoint Lama as the chief minister after five o'clock in the evening. Lama from Nuwakot is going to be appointed as the Chief Minister (CM) for the first time in Bagmati Province from the NC and the Tamang community.
The agenda to claim the position of Chief Minister was fixed on Tuesday itself. However, due to the issue of ministerial selection within the UML, the party's leader Jagannath Thapalia and the provincial lawmakers left for Kathmandu, and the submission of the claim was postponed to Tuesday.
An agreement has been reached between the NC and the UML on the division of ministries in Bagmati. NC leader Lama said that it has been agreed that Congress will take 7 ministries including the Chief Minister and UML will take 6 ministries including the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning.
