KAWASKOTI, April 10: The Nepali Congress (NC) delegates airing their views at the party´s ongoing Mahasamiti meeting in Triveni, Nawalparasi have demanded redrafting of the political report presented by Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel.
While taking part in the deliberations, some 14 representatives, one from each zone, have sought rewriting of the political proposal citing ambiguity, said NC central member Dhanraj Gurung. [break]
The leadership should not take the content of political proposal presented by the party on federalism and forms of governance in a hollow manner, said delegates, urging the party top brass to make solid foundation to go among the people.
He said that the group leaders have taken stance in favour of new constitution with federalism based on common identity and capability.
Gurung further said the political report would be endorsed on Thursday after its rewriting. Likewise, the Mahasamiti members also cautioned the party to pay proper attention towards making arrangement of education, health and employment for 25 per cent citizens reeling under poverty line.
Some of the members have put in place a signature campaign to declare Nepal a Hindu state.
Mahasamiti members attending the conclave have concentrated their efforts in different campaigns as how their agendas could be established in the party. Specifically, Madhesis and indigenous nationalities have come up with such voice.
Women have also sought representation rather merely the names.
In course of the discussion, voice was also been raised to schedule Kebat, Mallah, Sahani, among other ethnic groups, in the list of indigenous nationalities.
Majority has seen on seven provinces while federating the nation. The meeting representatives from the Lumbini zone were univocal on seven provinces and recommend it to the meeting, member Laxmi Pandey of Nawalparasi said. The provinces should be multi-religious, multi-lingual and multi-cultural, she added.
Initially, some 1,338 representatives including 200 women across the country took part in the meeting and until Wednesday, some 25 per cent have already returned home.
Some members were seen taking stroll in the temple premises whereas some have reached the Indian markets nearby and Balmiki Ashram.
Party leaders were learnt to have met Pithadhis (chief priest) of Gajendra Mokhsa Dham Kamalnayancharya.
Arrangements have been made for the accommodations of meeting representatives at hotels in Parasi, Bardghat and Sunwal.
