KATHMANDU, October 13: The Nepali Congress (NC) Koshi Province has convened a meeting of its Work Performance Committee to discuss the recent developments stemming from the rebellion led by Shekhar Koirala within the party.

The primary purpose of this meeting is to formulate a stance regarding the unfolding situation within the province. It is expected that the meeting will determine the party's course of action.

This upheaval was triggered when, last Thursday, the ruling coalition decided to nominate Maoist leader Indra Angbo as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province. However, eight NC provincial members in Koshi openly supported the nomination of Kedar Karki as the Chief Minister instead.

Both Angbo and Karki have filed claims for the Chief Minister's post, as per the provisions of Article 168, Clause 5 of the Constitution. The deadline for this process was set to conclude at 5 PM  today by Province Chief Parshuram Khapung.

Faced with mounting pressure following the rebellion of the eight party provincial members, the NC establishment has strongly reaffirmed its position, vowing that any defiance of party directives will not be tolerated.
