KATHMANDU, Dec 15: The counting of the remaining votes of the election held on December 13 under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress will start from this afternoon.
The Central Election Committee of the NC has stated that the counting of the remaining votes of the General Convention will start from today. Election Coordinator Gopal Krishna Ghimire said that the counting of votes will start from this afternoon.

According to him, the votes of the office-bearers and central members under different clusters will be counted. A re-polling was held on Tuesday after none of the presidential candidates received 51 percent of the votes in the first round.
In the second round, Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba secured the requisite votes. The NC's Election Committee declared Deuba a winner.
Election Coordinator Ghimire informed Republica that the counting of votes of the office-bearers and members other than president will be held at the central office of the Nepali Congress in Sanepa. He said that the counting of votes would be managed as soon as possible. “We will start counting the votes from this afternoon. The counting of votes will be done by the office-bearers. We work hard day and night to ensure that the votes are counted quickly,” he said.
As many as 4,743 delegates participated in the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress. A total of 487 candidates are contesting for 132 posts. The 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress was inaugurated amid a grand ceremony at Bhrikuti Mandap on December 10. Voting was arranged at the National Assembly and Bhrikuti Mandap.
