National Women’s Volleyball from October 9

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The 22nd National Women’s Volleyball Tournament is set to start from October 9 to 13 in Galkot, Baglung.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The 22nd National Women’s Volleyball Tournament is set to start from October 9 to 13 in Galkot, Baglung. 


The Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA), in a press meet in Kathmandu, informed that the tournament is going to be organized with the management of Baglung District Volleyball Association (BDVA) and with support from Galkot Municipality. 


A total of 10 teams comprising seven provincial and three departmental teams will take part in the tournament, which will be played in league cum knockout format, informed the organizers.

The General Secretary of the association Jitendra Bahadur Chand informed that the top 24 players of the tournament will be selected to form the national women’s team. The tournament is being organized according to the annual calendar of the association.


“According to the decentralization policy of the association, the 22nd National Women’s Volleyball is going to be start in Baglung,’’ Chand said. “The organizer will bear every responsibility of the tournament and the association will provide technical support only.’’ 


The tournament, which will run for five days, will reward the winner with Rs 50,000, while the runner-up will get Rs 30,000. Likewise, the third-placed team will take home Rs 20,000. 


Similarly, the best spiker, the best setter, the best libero will receive Rs 5,000 each, while the best player of the tournament will get Rs 10,000, according to the organizers. 


The association also informed that it will provide the Baglung Volleyball Association with six balls, a net and a cash support of Rs 100,000.
