KATHMANDU, Nov 21: Nepal Academy has announced the date of this year’s national poetry competition on December 14 in Kathmandu.
Earlier, the competition which would be held on the establishment day of the academy (Asar 9) was postponed citing COVID-19 outbreak.
Teaching through poetry
Chief of Poetry Department at the academy, Prof Dr Hemnath Poudel said that the new date for the competition was announced and the poetry festival would be conducted by maintaining social distancing.
The academy has been conducting the poetry competition since 1965.
Likewise, the amount of the prizes for the winners has increased from this year. Member Secretary at the academy, Prof Jagat Prasad Upadhyay said that the first prize winner will get Rs 50,000 in cash while the first runner-up will receive Rs 40,000. Likewise, three persons will be selected for the third position and will receive Rs 30,000 each.
