Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai inaugurated the event, which is jointly organized by Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Rupandehi Chamber of Industry.[break]
According to the organizers, more than 400 entrepreneurs are participating in the fair. Agricultural producers, technology solution providers, foot wear manufacturers, information and communication technology companies, bank and financial institutions, garment and handicrafts producers, hotel and restaurants and insurance companies, among others, have participated in the event.
“We have tried to make it a truly national event by incorporating entrepreneurs representing all crucial sectors of the economy,” said Baburam Bohara, secretary of Rupandehi Chamber of Industry.
Addressing the inaugural function, PM Bhattarai said the government was signing bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement (BIPPA) with China as well in order to lure Chinese investments into the country. “BIPPA will be signed soon. We are making preparations for signing the agreement,” he stated.
As government is preparing to celebrate year 2012/13 as the Investment Year, Dr Bhattarai urged the private sector to invest more in manufacturing and service sectors.
He also noted that the government was making all out efforts to garner international assistance for the development of Lumbini.
