A program will be held on the occasion this morning at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, and President Ramchandra Paudel will be a part of the ceremony.

The program will pay tribute to the well-known as well as unknown martyrs who had lost their lives while fighting for democracy in the country.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address the Democracy Day ceremony. The government has declared today a public holiday to mark the day. February 19, 1951, or Falgun 7, 2007, which marked the end of the autocratic Rana regime and heralded the dawn of democracy in Nepal, is a historic day for the country that remained indelible.

President Paudel, in his Democracy Day message, emphasized that Nepali people's sovereignty has been guaranteed through struggles and the sacrifice of martyrs.
