LALITPUR, Dec 2: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has insisted that the NAST should play a noticeable role in the development of science and technology.
In his address to the 39th Assembly of NAST here today, the PM, who is the NAST chancellor, vowed to increase budget for the NAST through the announcement of the supplementary budget for its development.
Every research to be conducted by the NAST should be result-oriented, he asserted.
The Assembly decided to award the Jamunbari Community Forest Users' Group based in Kankai of Jhapa with this year's 'Nature Conservation Award' in recognition of its contribution to the management of safe habitats for wildlife and conservation of nature, wetlands and biological diversities for the past two decades. The award carries a purse of Rs 200,000.
Likewise, as per the Assembly decision, the 'NAST Science Award' carrying a purse of Rs 100,000 shall be presented to Dr Manoj Kumar Yadav.
Similarly, the 'NAST Technology Award' carrying a purse of Rs 100,000 is to be presented to Dr Surendra Lal Shrestha.
Likewise, five people will be honored with the ' NAST Science and Technology Award' carrying a purse of Rs 75,000 each. The chosen personalities are Dr Santosh Nepal (Palpa), Dr Khemraj Joshi (Darchula), Dr Santosh Dulal (Jhapa), Dr Urmila Pyakurel (Sindhupalchowk) and Dr Ramdevi Tamacho Saha (Saptari), the NAST said.
The Female Community Health Volunteers, Nepal Family Health Program and Ramchandra Adhikari (individual) of Taplejung have been chosen for the 'NAST Science Technology Promotion Award'. The award carries a purse of Rs 25,000 each.
Dr Saraswoti Acharya of Rasuwa has been chosen for the 'World Academy of Science Award' of US dollar 1,000 for the contribution of the mathematical model of temperature distribution in human males and females dermal part.
Similarly, the 'Nabil Science and Technology Award' is to be presented to four people. They are Prof Dr Tankanath Dhamala (Okhaldhunga), Dr Hari Prasad Aryal (Morang), Prof Dr Krishna Das Manandhar (Kathmandu) and Prof Dr Sirjanlal Shrestha (Lalitpur). They will receive Rs 25,000 each.
Dr Bimala Dhakal of the TU Central Department of Biotechnology and Shree Shyam Kumar Pun of Central Department of Botany are going to be honored with the 'NAST Dayananda Bajracharya Research Award'. They will receive Rs 25,000 each. RSS
