Photojournalist Thoker has clinched the coveted trophy, defeating 123 national and international contenders.
Thoker was awarded ´Grand Prize´ for his flying peacock, categorized as an endangered species of birds, he had captured on his camera near Tamakoshi in Dolakha district. "I am overjoyed to win the prize," said Thoker, adding, "The prize has energized me to further excel in my profession.” [break]
Beside the prize, Thoker has received a purse of Rs 40,000 and additional packages.
Meanwhile, Dipak Tolange, Aman Shrestha, Shani Thapa and Sumit Shrestha have also won the titles on other genres.
WCN, a non-governmental organization, has been working toward protecting and conserving endangered species.
It monitors illegal wildlife trade and conducts field visits to safeguard wildlife species in their natural habitat.
