KATHMANDU, Dec 8: National Muslim Struggle Alliance has announced that it has broken its alliance with the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), which has been leading protests in Tarai-Madhes districts, accusing the UDMF of repeatedly breaching the understandings reached between the two sides.

The Alliance has accused the Front of ignoring the issues of the Muslim organization and not including its representatives in meetings and negotiations with the government and top leaders.

"The leaders of the Alliance aren't included in UDMF meetings and we are not consulted in the process of making any decision. The decisions were simply imposed on us," read a statement jointly issued by Shamim Miya Ansari, coordinator of the Alliance, and General Secretary Mohammad Jakir Hussain on Tuesday.

"Also, some of the member parties were openly lobbying against this Alliance." The Muslim organization has said that it will declare its independent protest programs soon.
