Municipality announces free education for daughters up to Master's level

BHEJDA, June 27: Rampur municipality here has announced a policy of providing free education up to the Master's level to daughters to be born henceforth in the municipality.


The municipality announced this in its policy and program for the new fiscal year 2019/2020 that was presented in the fifth municipal assembly today. Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa said provisions have been made for providing insurance to mothers giving birth in health institutions and they would be given additional Rs 500 if they gave birth to a daughter.

Likewise, the municipality has made 33 percent women representation mandatory in the local consumer committees to ensure gender equality and inclusion. The municipality has also brought various programs for increasing the capacity of the single women and supporting the poor communities in their income by implementing income-generation enterprises.


"The structures in the municipality would be made children-friendly, disabled-friendly and older people-friendly to promote the municipality as a 'smart city'," he said. The municipality has also brought the 'health, nutrition and education to children', 'skills, entrepreneurship and employment to youths' and 'respect and social security to the senior citizens' programs.
