KATHMANDU, June 15: Madhesi People's Right Forum-Nepal (MPRF-N), Federal Socialist Party Nepal (FSPN) and Khas Inclusive National Party (KINP) formally announced their unification amid a function in the capital on Monday. The new party has been named Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal (FSFN).

MPRF-N Chairman Upendra Yadav, FSPN Chairman Ashok Rai and KINP Chairman Yuvaraj Karki lit up three separate torches and unveiled the flag of the unified party to declare their merger. The unified party would carry the flag of FSPN while the election symbol of the party would be a burning torch, the current election symbol of MPRF-N.

After the unification, Rai was declared as senior leader of the party while Yadav its chairman. FSPN General Secretary Rajendra Shrestha is the co-chairman of the unified party while Lal Babu Raut and Renu Kumari Yadav of MPRF-N, Rakam Chemjong and Hemraj Rai of FSPN and Karki of KINP are vice-chairmen. Likewise, Ram Sahaya Yadav (MPRF-N) and Rana Dhwaj Kandangwa (FSPN) are general secretaries of the unified party while Abhishek Pratap Saha (MPRF-N) and Dan Bahadur Biswakarma (FSPN) are deputy general secretaries.

Ratneshwar Lal Kayastha (MPRF-N) and Parshuram Basnet (KINP) have been given the post of secretaries and Bijay Yadav (MPRF-N) has been appointed treasurer.

Declaring the unification, the FSFN Chairman Yadav said that the unification is not only the unification of three political parties but of the people's movements of the past as well.

"Equality should not be limited to slogans. It should translate into opportunity and justice for all people. The newly established party will fight for it by establishing federal social republic Nepal," said Yadav.

"The ruling class used divide and rule policy in the past, but Madhesi, indigenous people (Janajati) and Khas are united now and we will continue our struggle on for identity-based federalism," he added.

Yadav argued that the 16-point deal between four parties has breached the jurisdiction of the Constituent Assembly and also ignored the provisions of Interim Constitution.

"Four frauds sat at someone's house and divided some political positions within themselves. And now they are trying to enforce the 16-point deal and a constitution that does not address the aspirations of marginalized communities," said Yadav.

He alleged that four major parties are in a hurry to draft a constitution and form a consensus government only to have their share on the budget the foreigners would provide for the reconstruction work.

Likewise, senior leader Rai said that the party would be an alternative political force for people who are expecting real change in the country. "Nepali Congress and CPN-UML love to remain in status quo while we want progressive changes in the country. UCPN (Maoist), meanwhile, has been swinging from one position to another. As UCPN (Maoist) failed to lead the progressive forces, we have created this alternative force," said Rai..
