The draft amendment is aimed at tightening the screws on INGOs carrying out activities in violation of the existing laws of the country. "The first draft on amending the social welfare act has been forwarded to the MoLJ.

We will forward it to the forthcoming session of the Legislature-Parliament for approval after getting a nod from the cabinet," said Kafle. He said INGOs violating the laws of the country would face action.

According to Social Welfare Council Member Secretary Rabindra Kumar, only 14 out of 173 INGOs working in Nepal have submitted the details of their activities and expenditure to the government so far. "Now we are updating the list of INGOs who have not submitted their details," he added.
