KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The third phase of local level elections is underway in the eight districts in Province 2 on Monday.
According to the latest updates provided by the Joint Election Operation Center (JEOC) at the Election Commission of Nepal, 50 percent of votes were cast in Saptari, Siraha, Mahottari and Bara, 45 percent in Dhanusha, 60 percent in Rautahat and Sarlahi while 55 percent in Parsa as of 1 pm today.

Being held in 136 local units, a total of 37,236 contestants are vying for the 6,627 various posts of mayors, deputy mayors, chiefs and members of the local units and ward committees.
Voters including mourners to centenarians turned up to cast their votes.
