"Although the UDMF's official decision to resume classes is praiseworthy, forcing morning classes during winter is hardly practical," said Umesh Chaudhary, secretary of Siraha chapter of Private and Boarding School's Organization, Nepal (PABSON).
Parents say it is very difficult to wake up their children early in the cold mornings and prepare them for school. To make matters worse, lack of transportation to commute to schools have created lots of unnecessary hassles for everyone.
According to Chaudhary, the decision to disallow operation of school buses have added more tension and infuriated everyone.
A large number of children have to travel from rural areas to their schools in Lahan. Most of them used to reach their schools through school buses, public transportation or their parent's vehicle. But as the UDMF is still reluctant to let vehicles operate, children are facing lots of hardships to make it to their schools.
According to Chaudhary, many students from rural areas have been unable to attend their school because school buses have not come into operation. Only those who live near their school have been attending the morning classes.
"We requested the UDMF in Lahan to let school buses operate, but our requests fell into deaf ears. Until and unless school buses are allowed to operate, running classes will hold no significance at all as large numbers of students are not able to attend classes," he said, adding that the morning classes will soon become intolerable for the tender kids as the winter is getting extreme each day.
