Monsoon ends with 13 days delay; weather to be generally clear across Nepal today

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: The Meteorological Forecast Division (MFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that the weather will be generally clear across the country today.

The MFD said that the weather in the country will be partly cloudy to normal today because of the influence of the western winds.

The officials of MFD have stated that this year's monsoon has left Nepal on Sunday. This year's monsoon has officially ended, marking a delay of 13 days compared to the usual date of monsoon end, which is October 2. The monsoon, which began on June 14, persisted for 124 days in Nepal.

According to the MFD, the weather will be generally clear in hill areas including Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and partly cloudy in the rest of the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning at some places of Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces and at a few places in the hill areas of the rest of the provinces. It is said that there is a possibility of light snowfall at a few places in the high hills and mountain regions of the country.

The weather will be partly cloudy to normal in the hill areas of the country, including Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces, and the weather will be generally clear in the rest of the country tonight. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder/lightning at a few places in Sudurpaschim Province and Lumbini Province and one or two places in the rest of the provinces.

The officials of MFD have also asked everyone to take necessary precautions as there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning at some places and snowfall in the mountain regions.
