"Many students and guardians have filed complaints at the MoE accusing medical colleges of charging excessive fees," as per a press statement issued by the MoE.
The government has set the fee to be charged for MBBS by valley-based colleges at Rs 3.5 million, while the fee for MD MS has been set at Rs 2.3 million.

The MoE stated that the instruction to follow the government-set fees had been forwarded to the Tribhuvan University, the Kathmandu University, BP Memorial Health Institute and Research Center, Patan Health Science Institute, among others. But the students have been complaining about excessive fees being charged to them by the colleges.

The ministry has further stated that the universities would be held responsible for students admitted on donation.
Meanwhile, the Education Commission formed by the previous government has failed to function as it has done nothing even two months after it was established.
