According to Police Inspector Jitendra Phuyal at Katari Area Police Station, the skeleton, which was found at Chisapani forest of Lekhgaun VDC-4, has been identified as that of Bidur Kumar Thapa, 41, of Triyuga Municipality-12. Thapa had gone missing about since January 2, informed police.[break]
Police had intensified their search after finding Thapa´s bag with his mobile phone, passport, clothes and shoes in the forest on February 1.
Thapa, who had left Kathmandu on January 2, was out of contact ever since. Upon learning from his relatives that he had gone missing, police had deployed a search team in Lekhghau VDC but the team was unable to trace him.
Based on the first hand evidences, we believe that the skeletons are of Thapa, informed Shree Krishna Paudel, an inpsector at the District Police Office, Udayapur. "On the basis of the items found in the forest, and the SIM card recovered alongside the skeleton, we believe it is Thapa´s skeleton," said Paudel.
Police revealed that around five years ago Thapa had worked as supervisor in the Katari-Iname road construction project and he had had tied knot with an already married woman while working at the project.
In order to find out the cause of the death, the skeleton has been sent to the District Hospital, Udayapur, informed Paudel. "The final report will reveal the cause of the death," said Paudel.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a married couple on suspicion of their involvement in Thapa´s death. They have been identified as Dhan Bahadur Tamang and his wife Binda Tamang of Jamdaha VDC-7 in Siraha district. Both had been doing business in Lekhghaun VDC for the past few years.
