His initial battle began at home. His father had dreamt of seeing his son, who is a management student, become a successful entrepreneur. Though Shrestha had his mother’s support all along the way, it took quite some time for his dad to perceive his son’s passion in music.
After two years of struggle Shreshan finally has released his first album Mirror – The Reflections of Life.
Produced by Music.com, this ensemble of seven tracks altogether, Mirror – The Reflections of Life stands fresh with its lyrics but with inherent flaws. Considering the fact that this is Shrestha’s debut album, this immaturity can, however, be overlooked to some extent.
Shrestha’s voice is new and fresh. Alike many other youngsters who are struggling to record their album, Shrestha’s approach in mixing rap with his lyrics and composition is what makes this album slightly disappointing.
The first track Samjhana Aaucha is a lovely duet by Shrestha and his friend Christina, another upcoming singer. This track would have become the finest in the record if there were no rap attempts during the chorus. Rap seems to have been fit in abruptly and even the words are not powerful to define a proper rap song. The rap lines in between stifle Shrestha’s singing often.
In the second number Bhanana, Shrestha loses his vocal range and goes off note most of the times. With minimum music played in the third track, it’s finally a relief to listen to Shrestha’s voice more particularly. He has a suitable voice but needs to work strongly on lyrics and music composition to grow as a better singer.
It’s good listening to the first track repeated once again in the fourth number without any rap and DJ mix sounds. The duet between Shrestha and Christina goes smooth with electric guitar and drum beats.
Again Yo Ramailo Saanjh should have been spared of rap lines, which only makes the song sound unnecessarily loud. Once the rapper comes in between, the musical mood is often destroyed.
It is wise to notice how Shrestha has unveiled all what he went through in the sixth number Geetko Katha. Nonetheless, his narratives should have been a little more poetic; but that can be overlooked considering his nostalgias.
All in all, it is too young to say anything concrete about this upcoming singer. A little more maturity would go a long way in brightening up his prospect as a good singer.
