Ministerial panel to study Bardiya probe report

KATHMANDU, April 18: The cabinet meeting on Sunday formed a five-member ministerial committee to study the probe report on 10 March Bardiya killings.



According to Minister for Law Prem Bahadur Singh, the study committee includes ministers from various six ministries including home, defense, law, culture and forests. The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility to implement the recommendations made by the probe committee. [break]



According to Minister Singh, the report submitted by the probe committee, which was headed by joint attorney general Saroj Prasad Gautam, was presented during Sunday´s cabinet meeting for discussion.



A cabinet meeting held on March 17 had formed a committee to probe the killing of three persons including two women and a 12 years old girl by Nepal Army personnel at Bardiya National Park on March 10.



The soldiers were deployed for the security of the park. NA personnel had shot dead the three, who were from Hariharpur of Surkhet, who had entered the park to collect the bark of Kaulo tree.



The cabinet meeting also decided to promote Lieutenant Colonel Prem Kumar Rayamajhi to the post of colonel.
