Minister Khatiwada inaugurates Bhadrapur Check Point

BHADRAPUR, Sept 4: Minister for Finance Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada hinted at the possibility of developing Bhadrapur Check Point into the international trade point. 


Inaugurating the Bhadarapur Checkpoint at Bhadrapur in Jhapa today, Minister Khatiwada argued that Bhadarpur Checkpoint could be developed as the international checkpoint by trading on energy with the third countries rather than relying on sale of commodities. 


Stating that an energy trade agreement with Bangladesh was already signed, Minister Khatiwada said," Bangladesh is ready to buy electricity with Nepal and we need cooperation from Indian government for the same."

The Minister pledged to hold discussion with India to further advance the newly inaugurated Check Point. 


He called for cooperation from one and all to upscale the Checkpoint to an international level. 


The Bhadrapur Chhoti Bhansar has been recently upgraded to the Check Point. With this, there are two Custom Offices in Jhapa district. 


Mechi Custom Office Chief Tek Bahadur Aryal said that around 10 bigha of land was required to build physical infrastructures in the Check Point of international standard. 


Bihar State of India, West Bengal State of India and Bangladesh and Bhutan are in close distance from this newly inaugurated Checkpoint.
