He answered with the holy grail: "My dream right now would be for Michelle Obama to wear one of my dresses." [break]
Behold, ladies, proof that dreams really can come true...
Mrs O at the Smithsonian Tuesday morning, celebrating the donation of her stunning Jason Wu inauguration gown to the museum´s First Ladies Collection, donned Prabal Gurung.
She wore a hand-draped silk twill dress from Prabal Gurung´s spring 2010 collection (lovely Leighton Meester looked stunning when she picked a dress from the same season), and the First Lady made it look positively perfect.
"My dream right now would be for Michelle Obama to wear one of my dresses," Prabal told reporters before New York Fashion Week. "She embodies what it is to be a modern American woman in every possible way-smart, educated, confident enough to just let her husband be in the forefront yet still command her own attention. That would be my dream." Congratulations, Prabal! Your dream is officially a reality.
New York Mag wrote of Obama´s choice…. That´s what fashion people like to do - wear something by the designer they´re hanging out with, to be supportive and also to show the world they can. However, this is great publicity for Gurung, an up-and-comer himself, and a savvy choice by Michelle (and her unofficial stylist Ikram Goldman).
