Menon meets PM, Koirala (Updated)

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Indian External Affairs Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal at Baluwatar Tuesday afternoon. Menon arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday and directly went to Baluwatar to meet Dahal.



They discussed progress made so far toward implementing bi-lateral agreements on the use of water resources.



According to Hira Bahadur Thapa, prime minister´s foreign affairs adviser, Dahal and Menon discussed progress on Noumure hydropower project, which is to be constructed by India.



Reconstruction of Koshi embankment and Nepal’s power crisis were also discussed in the meeting, according to Thapa.



Menon also met with Nepali COngress president Girija Prasad Koirala in the afternoon. According to Koirala´s daughter Sujata Koirala, Nepal´s current political situation was discussed in the meeting. She said the break in politics of consensus and its consequences were discussed, besides other issues like President Koirala´s health and Nepal-India relations.



Menon is scheduled to meet with Foreign Affairs Minister Upendra Yadav before his departure Wednesday.
