KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav claimed that the Melamchi water supply will operate uninterrupted throughout the year. Addressing a program in Lalitpur on Thursday, Minister Yadav assured that despite past disruptions during the rainy season, authorities have found alternatives to ensure a steady supply of Melamchi water.
He outlined plans to bring water from another river near Melamchi and to supply water from Shivapuri. He also vowed to maintain the trust of valley residents in the Melamchi water supply.
Authorities decide not to immediately shut down Melamchi water...
Minister Yadav claimed that they successfully restored the supply of Melamchi water before this year's Dashain after it had been suspended for four months since Asar (mid-June to mid-July).
He stated that Melamchi supplies 200 million liters of water daily. However, due to various reasons three to four million liters have to be diverted to the Bagmati River.
The minister emphasized that, as a water-rich country, Nepal will no longer need to suffer for drinking water. He committed to ensuring there will be no drinking water shortage in the Kathmandu Valley.
