KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Minister for Health and Population Padam Giri has assured that measles spread in Banke district will be brought under control soon.


At a program organized by the Health Journalists' Forum in Kathmandu on Monday, Minister Giri informed that efforts are underway to contain the measles spread for a month in Banke. "Efforts against measles are intensified effectively, so it will be brought under control in a month," Minister Giri reiterated.

Minister Giri said that the people's representatives at local level and women health workers have been directed to immunize children against measles. He, however, said it is worrying to see the disease being spread in other places as well.


Necessary infrastructures will be created for quality health service and facility after conducting a scientific study on it. "We are conducting a study on hospital infrastructures and basic hospitals are getting new buildings," he informed.


Minister Giri shared the plight that medical human resources, including doctors, are reluctant to go to remote places. A concrete plan of action is needed for it, he added. 


Minister Giri vowed to maintain transparency in every activity. Forum's Chairman Ram Prasad Neupane argued that the time has come to wipe out all aberrations seen in health sectors.
