Addressing the gathering at Bhrikuti Mandap, UCPN (Maoist) General Secretary Post Bahadur Bogati said that the government was not focused on holding the election, and was rather disgressing from its main task.
"The government is not focused on holding the election," Bogati said.
He also informed that his party would launch protest programs if the government could not hold the election.
"We have prepared our struggle programs. If the government cannot hold the election we will launch those programs," he said.
Bogati also informed that the high-level political committee would hold a meeting soon and recommend the date for the election.
Similarly, addressing a May Day program at Khulamanch, CPN-UML leader KP Oli claimed that the upcoming CA election would show the actual strength of the UCPN (Maoist), and argued that the Maoists were underestimating the other political parties, including CPN-UML.
On UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s recent China and India visits, Oli claimed that Dahal was not certified by those neighboring countries as the ruler of Nepal.
Dahal had argued after his arrival back from China and India that he was accorded high respect as the representative of Nepal. He had claimed that his visits were undertaken as a representative of Nepal, not as chairman of the UCPN (Maoist). After his China visit, Dahal had also claimed to be the new ´establishment force of Nepal´ in wake of the monarchy´s demise.
"The Maoists have not abandoned their ultra-left anarchism," added Oli. He said the Maoists were making a mistake in underestimating his party, CPN-UML. "The UCPN (Maoist) will be finished soon."
Similarly, addressing a May Day function at Basantpur organized by trade unions close to the CPN-Maoist, CPN-Maoist Secretary Netra Bikram Chand claimed that the government was preparing for war in the name of the upcoming CA election. He refuted the accusation that his own party wanted war. He argued that his party wanted peace for the masses and also wanted to establish the rights of workers and peasants.
"We sense a huge preparation for war by the Regmi government behind the CA election facade. The Khila Raj Regmi-led election government is trying to impose war through the CA election," said Chand, adding that his party would respond if the government imposed war.
Chand also said that his party would launch a revolution if government imposed any war. He accused UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal and Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai of meeting Manmohan Singh as the leader of the expansionists.
"The CA election is going to be held to establish a parliamentary system and to impose war against the revolutionary forces. It is not meant to address the issues of the common people," said Chand.
Simialarly, Nepali Congress leader Ram Sharan Mahat said that policies should be adopted for economic development. He said it was not enough to just harp on the political issues.
"It is time for economic development and all our efforts should be for the prosperity of the country through economic development," said Mahat.
