BHAKTAPUR, May 7: A massive fire which broke out at 2 am this morning is continuing to wreak havoc at Tekhapukhu block of Bhaktapur Municipality – 1.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishna Prasai of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Bhaktapur said preliminary investigation has pointed towards a dry wood being used to cook food at Indra Shilpakar's house as being the prime factor behind the spread of fire.

The fire has gutted at least five houses belonging to eight families, DSP Prasai shared. The fire destroyed the houses belonging to Indra Shilpakar, Krishna Shilpakar, Dan Bahadur Shilpakar, Chandralal Shilpakar, Laxmi Prasad Shilpakar, Narayan Shilpakar and Purushottam Shilpakar.
Six fire engines from Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and Lalitpur along with the locals, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Army personnel are working at the site to tame the raging fire since 2:30 am.
Human casualties have not been reported so far, but the belongings inside the houses have all been reduced to ashes. The estimate of the total damages incurred is yet to arrive. RSS
