KATHMANDU, March 16: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said on Tuesday that the Maoists have not been positive about taking the peace process to its logical end.

During a meeting of the political parties in the ruling coalition, Nepal said that the Maoists have not been cooperating with the government to integrate and rehabilitate the Maoist combatants.

"With cooperation from the Maoists, the government should first confirm the number of qualified combatants. Only after that we can settle the issue of combatants to be integrated into the Nepal Army," the prime minister´s political advisor Rajhuji Panta quoted Nepal as saying during the meeting.

The meeting also held discussions on the constitution-drafting process. Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel and UML standing committee member Bharat Mohan Adhikari had briefed the meeting about the attempts to garner consensus on the constitution.
