KATHMANDU, August 4: The Central Committee of the ruling party CPN (Maoist Center) has been expanded to 407 members by adding 22 women members.
The newly added members have attended the Central Committee meeting from today.
The CPN (Maoist Center) has added Ang Dawa Sherpa, Indira Adhikari, Uma Kapali, Urmila BK, Ganga Khadka, Gitakumari Kandel Chaulagain, Gita Shahi, Chamkumari Khanal as central members.

Similarly, Dilmaya Buddamagar, Nirmaya Shris, Nisha Neupane, Parbati Thapa, Bhagwati Tiwari, Motikala Chalaune, Lal Kumari Pun, Leela Sharma, Sapana Pariyar have also been added to the central committee. Sita Dahal, Sushila Ghimire, Sushila Poudyal, Suryakumari BK, Saru Chaudhary have also been made central members.
Although the ninth general convention of the party held in December 2021 decided to increase the women’s representation in the Central Committee to 35 percent, it has not been implemented yet.
In the organizational report presented by the Chairman of the party and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the central committee meeting that started on Wednesday, it was proposed to add 22 people to reach 35 percent women members.
As the details of the party members had to be submitted to the Election Commission, the leaders of CPN (Maoist Center) were forced to immediately increase the women’s representation to 35 percent in the Central Committee.
After PM Dahal’s proposal was approved by the Central Committee meeting, 22 women leaders were added to the Central Committee. Before that, the Central Committee had 385 members.
In the Central Committee meeting, which is ongoing since August 2, members of the Central Committee have been expressing their views on the report presented by party Chairman Dahal. As of Thursday, 74 central members had expressed their views.
The meeting will continue till Sunday.
