POKHARA, Sept 20: The indefinite strike called by Nepali doctors at Manipal College of Medical Science (MCOMS) continued for the 10th day on Tuesday with a high-level team formed to resolve the issue returning to Kathmandu.

The six-member team led by Purna Chandra Bhattarai, joint secretary at Ministry of Labor and Transport Management (MoLTM), failed to persuade the agitating Nepali doctors to call off their strike. [break]

They have been on the warpath since early last week demanding “equal pay for equal works”.

“The college management has refused to pay Nepali doctors on par with non-Nepali doctors,” Bhattarai said. “Nepali doctors do not seem in a mood to call off their strike until the college management addresses their demands.”
