LALITPUR, Feb 6: The Managing Director of Hotel Square in Lalitpur, Romi Aryal, was apprehended by the police on Monday, according to SP Shekhar Khanal at Lalitpur Police Range.

Another operator of the hotel, Lalita Bhandari Devkota, surrendered to the police on January 21. Devkota’s case is currently pending in the Lalitpur District Court. The court had earlier issued an arrest warrant against both Aryal and Devkota.

A case related to an attempt to a murder has been filed against the hotel operators.

A local youth, Sajil Man Shakya, sustained injuries due to electrocution in the swimming pool of Hotel Square located in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-3. The incident occurred at around 3:30 PM on August 31.

According to his family member, an electric current was found to be leaking through the focus lights, and Shakya's hand accidentally came into contact with one of them while he was swimming.

Following the electrocution, Shakya was unable to speak or move. He was promptly rushed to Nepal Mediciti Hospital, where it was revealed that he had also suffered a heart attack. Subsequently, he was transferred to Annapurna Neuro Hospital at Maitighar for further treatment.

Initially, Shakya's family attempted to file a complaint of attempted murder against the hotel's promoters at the District Police Range, Lalitpur. They alleged that the hotel's negligence in repairing the electrical leakage had resulted in Shakya's unconscious state.

However, the police did not register the complaint promptly. The process advanced only after the complaint was filed through a government attorney.

Despite receiving treatment at two hospitals, Shakya's condition has not shown any signs of improvement. Necessary medical equipment has been installed at Shakya's home for treatment. A nurse is providing round the clock care while doctors conduct occasional tests.

According to the family members, Shakya has remained unconscious for almost five months following the incident.
