KATHMANDU, Jan 24: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Shyam Lama 'Gumbe,'-- one of the key suspects behind the broad-daylight killing of the Federation of Contractors' Association of Nepal's President Sarad Kumar Gauchan.
According to police, Lama was arrested from his rented house at Champanagar in Bharatpur-13 of Chitwan on Monday.The District Police Office, Chitwan had arrested Lama on Monday evening and immediately handed him over to the CIB team. "Chitwan is at crossroads and it is easier to flee to any direction after committing a crime. As a result, many criminals rush to Chitwan," said Superintendent of Police Dipak Thapa, the chief of District Police Office, Chitwan.
According to CIB Chief DIG Puskar Karki, Gumbe was the one who fired shots at Gauchan, while he was on his way to his office located in Anamnagar.

Lama is also a prime suspect in the killing of Durga Tiwari, who was the chairman of the CPN-UML-aligned Youth Association Nepal's Rupandehi district chapter, according to police. "The arrest shows that the CIB doesn't let go off the wanted," Karki said.
Police have already nabbed the mastermind, Samir Man Singh Basnet, along with others in connection with the murder of construction entrepreneur Gauchan. Gauchan was shot dead on October 8, 2017 at Prayagmarg in Shantinagar area in Kathmandu.
