BAJHANG, April 27: A man in Bajhang district died after being attacked by jackals on Wednesday night at around 10 pm. He was returning home from the district headquarters Chainpur when the animals attacked.
The victim has been identified as Padam Raj Upadhyay, 28, of Gadhkhet in Jaya Prithvi Municipality-4.

According to the District Police Office (DPO), Bajhang, Upadhyay had drunk excessive amount of alcohol. On the way home, he fell off a cliff and later the jackals attacked him.
Various organs of Upadhyay, including mouth, tongue and left hand, has been eaten off by jackals, police informed. His post-mortem and final rites have already been performed. Police further informed that an investigation is ongoing.
This is, however, not the first case of jackal attack on humans. Around December last year, Singh Bahadur Bista, a local, was attacked by jackals at the same place where Upadhyay was killed. Only after a long and intensive treatment did Bista manage to survive.
