“I knew I could make it, I was here to do so,” smiled a confident Joshi, who left behind 18 other contestants to clinch the crown of the much-awaited Lux Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal 2011, organized at Army Officers’ Club in Kathmandu on Tuesday.[break]
Joshi, with her answer in the top five round, stole the show when she dared to challenge the question by chief judge Yasho Vardhan Pradhan.
Responding to, “If women were to rule the world, how different would it be by 2050?” Joshi said, “I think women are already ruling the world, and I’m proud to be a woman!” Greeted with deafening applause from the audience and judges alike, the answer helped her grab the title and the crown.
A cricket and dance aficionado the new Miss Nepal believes faith in one´s ability is the key to success.
Anupama Aura Gurung and Sarina Makey came close to the title as first and second runners-up respectively.
Also the winner of Miss Beautiful Hair, Gurung was all smiles after the announcement and exclaimed that she was on top of the world. Already the proud owner of a boutique, she believes young entrepreneurs are what the country needs.

Responding to the chief judge’s question she opined, “If the world were to be ruled by women, it would have more heart. It would be filled with love and compassion; women ruling would be a gift to the world.”
Sarina Makey wore the crown of second runner-up. The 24-year-old from Chitwan is an avid sportsperson, and considers being able to participate in the beauty contest her biggest achievement. While answering the final question she said, “Women can conserve, preserve, and consequently make the world more peaceful and developed.”
One of the judges from the panel, Bollywood actor Manisha Koirala shared, “I was amazed at the level of confidence these young girls displayed. Honestly, anyone in the top five could have been a winner, they were all equally deserving.”
Other judges for the event were Miss Nepal 2009 Zenisha Moktan, singer Yogeshwar Amatya, Rajendra Bajagain, Ajaya Bhadra Khanal, Promi Pradhan, Shailaja Adhikary, Shreejana Rana, Ritu Singh Vaidya and singer Deepak Kharel.
Miss Nepal 2011 Malina Joshi who received a check of Rs 50,000 will also get the opportunity to work as the ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund Nepal.
