MAHENDRANAGAR, July 6: A custom hiring center that will rent out farm equipment to farmers has come into operation in Mahendranagar.
Lawmaker Deepak Prakash Bhatta inaugurated the center, which is operated by Shanti Agricultural Cooperative Limited, amid a function on Thursday.

Speaking at the program, Bhatta said that mechanization in agricultural sector will increase production while reducing cost of production for farmers. "I am hopeful that farmers will benefit from this center as those, who cannot afford farm equipment, can also use them," he said, urging officials of the cooperative to operate the hiring center in a professional manner.
Similarly, Parmal Singh Saud, president of Shanti Agricultural Cooperative Limited said, said that they introduced the concept of hiring service so that local farmers can use modern farm equipment.
According to Saud, the cooperative has purchased eight different types of equipment. The cooperative has received 50 percent cost subsidy from the government.
The center is renting out threshers and field levelers to farmers at Rs 1,300 per hour, rice transplanter at Rs 2,000 per hour, seed drill machine and plowing machine at Rs 1,000 per hour.
