KATHMANDU: The cabinet meeting on Wednesday gave authority to Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara to hold talks with Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), which has been launching a series of protests against the Maoist attack on Himalmedia since Sunday. [break]
“As decided by the cabinet today (Wednesday), I am holding talks with FNJ on how to initiate legal action against those involved in the attack,” said Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara after the cabinet meeting.
Mahara said he would also meet those accused in the Himalmedia attack incident.
The cabinet also decided to publicly declare 8,500 people killed in April 2006 movement, "People’s War" and Madhes Movement as martyrs on right occasion in future. Similarly, the cabinet also set March 26 to 28 as the date for holding the meeting of Nepal Development Forum, a consortium of donors to Nepal, in Nepal.
Similarly, the cabinet has decided to establish the much-awaited four commercial benches in Biratnagar, Butwal, Nepalgunj and Patan. The cabinet took the decision following permission from the Supreme Court two weeks ago.
Also, the cabinet decided to appoint an honorary consular in Haifa of Israel.
