JANAKPUR, March 22: The Madhesh government has announced to invest Rs 2 billion to complete the under-construction International Ram-Janki Stadium in Janakpur.


Madhesh Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav made this announcement while inspecting the stadium under-construction at Rajaul on Wednesday.

Yadav said that the stadium will be completed by investing Rs 1 billion announced by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Madhesh government adding Rs 2 billion.


He also announced that he will build a model stadium with facilities in the country and hold an international competition.


In the year 2074 BS, the National Sports Council had leased 17 bighas of land of Laxman Mandir from Guthi Sansthan for 30 years to build a stadium with facilities in Janakpur within three years.


At that time, the National Sports Council had planned to build a football stadium, cricket stadium and hockey stadium as well as a multi-purpose indoor covered hall, kabaddi, kho-kho and wrestling training center on that land, but nothing happened till date.
