KATHMANDU, June 16: Sarovar Hotels, a prominent hotel management company under the Louvre Hotels Group, has officially announced the opening of Royal Tulip Kathmandu — the first Royal Tulip property in Nepal.

Located in Gwarko, Lalitpur, this landmark hotel is poised to become the largest in the country and the premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) in the capital.

Developed by The Massif Hotel Pvt. Ltd., Royal Tulip Kathmandu marks the debut of the internationally renowned Royal Tulip brand in Nepal, fusing upscale global hospitality standards with the rich vibrancy of Nepali culture. Part of Louvre Hotels Group’s premium portfolio, the Royal Tulip brand is recognised for its refined elegance, world-class service, and sophisticated amenities.

Strategically positioned on Ring Road, just 3.5 km from Tribhuvan International Airport, the hotel boasts 308 rooms and suites — the largest room inventory in Nepal. Designed for both business and leisure travellers, the property offers contemporary accommodations, thoughtful features, and an elevated guest experience.

Setting a new benchmark for large-scale events in Nepal, the hotel features Kathmandu’s largest convention facility, spanning over 30,000 sq. ft. This includes two grand banquet halls of approximately 11,000 sq. ft. each, six additional meeting rooms, breakout areas, and a range of versatile spaces — from an intimate 800 sq. ft. boardroom to a sprawling ballroom. The hotel also offers dedicated parking for up to 600 vehicles, making it ideal for international conferences, diplomatic events, corporate gatherings, exhibitions, and destination weddings.

Initially, the hotel will operate with 104 keys and has launched two signature food and beverage outlets. Lalitpur Café, the all-day dining venue, offers a bright and welcoming ambiance where every meal feels like a celebration. Meanwhile, The Alpine Lounge & Bar provides a sophisticated retreat for guests to unwind with handcrafted cocktails, premium spirits, fine wines, live music, and a chic atmosphere.

"We are proud to open the doors to Royal Tulip Kathmandu, a project that represents our vision for a new era in Nepal’s hospitality industry. With unmatched room capacity and world-class event infrastructure, this hotel will set new standards in scale, service, and guest experience," said Rajendra Shakya, Chairman of The Massif Hotel Pvt. Ltd.

"Royal Tulip Kathmandu is a bold step in our brand’s expansion across South Asia. It not only marks our largest presence in Nepal to date but also addresses the growing demand for high-quality hospitality and large-scale venues in emerging global cities. This opening strengthens our position in a high-potential market and underlines our commitment to bringing international standards to destinations with strong growth prospects. We are pleased to partner with The Massif Hotel Pvt. Ltd. to realise this vision," added Ajay K. Bakaya, Chairman of Sarovar Hotels and Director at Louvre Hotels India.

With this landmark opening, Louvre Hotels Group continues to strengthen its footprint in South Asia, furthering its mission to deliver premium hospitality experiences in dynamic, emerging markets like Nepal, the hotel said in a statement.
