Locals block highway over delay in rescue of passengers injured in Sindhuli bus accident

SINDHULI, March 12: Six people died and 29 sustained injuries when a passenger bus traveling from Okhaldhunga to Kathmandu met with an accident at Kuivir of Sindhuli along the Mid-hill Highway at around 10 AM on Sunday.

SINDHULI, March 12: Six people died and 29 sustained injuries when a passenger bus traveling from Okhaldhunga to Kathmandu met with an accident at Kuivir of Sindhuli along the Mid-hill Highway at around 10 AM on Sunday.


According to the police, the ill-fated vehicle with registration number Ba 2 Kha 6596 skidded off the road and crashed into the retaining wall at Kuivir of Phikkal Rural Municipality-4 in Sindhuli district, killing six and injuring 29 others.

Locals have blocked the  Mid-hill  Highway accusing the authorities concerned in delaying the rescue of those injured in the accident.


Hundreds of passengers have been stranded due to the highway blockage following the accident. Saroj Khadka, a local of Sindhuli, said that he was stuck in traffic jam for about an hour.


DSP Chiranjeevi Dahal of the District Police Office, Sindhuli said that the traffic congestion has increased due to the accident, but denied that the highway was blocked. He also informed Republica that a helicopter was called to airlift three injured passengers who needed immediate help.
