Limbuwan student killed in Jhapa police action

BIRATNAGAR, March 19: At least one student has been killed and several others injured in course of the Free Students Union (FSU) elections in Jhapa district.



Limbuwan student activist Mani Lama was killed in police action in Dhulabari, Jhapa. The deceased hailed from Prithvinagar, Jhapa. A few other student activists and police personnel were also injured in the course of the clash.



Vote counting has begun at Dhulabari Campus despite the fatal incident.



Student activists of the Maoist-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) Indra Bahadur Baral, Usha Luintel, Saroj Magar, Pawan Singh Tamang, Surendra Tamang and Babu Ram BK are among those injured in the clash. Five of them have bullet injuries.



According to police, the local administration is preparing to airlift all the injured to Kathmandu for treatment.
